Dr. Andy Aftelak spends his days fulfilling the promise of Motorola’s vision of Seamless Mobility. He started his career designing communications equipment primarily for the European Space Agency. Andy joined Motorola and its European Research Lab in 1993. It was here that he worked on developing technologies for the TETRA standard and Motorola product, including the air interface, modulation and coding, the speech vocoder, audio quality, Direct Mode Operation and software development technologies. Andy represented Motorola on several leading standardisation committees, and currently represents Motorola on various international industry forums and the technical committee of several international conferences. Prior to his current role he became Deputy Director for European Communications Research in 2004, having been Director of UK Research since 1999. Andy’s new role is to develop the strategy of the Applications Research Centre, part of Motorola Labs. |
